So you want to publish your book?
03/06/2010
On Monday evening, March 8, 2010, Russ will be giving a presentation about publishing YOUR book at the monthly meeting of the Frederick County Art Association (FCAA). Intended as an overview of the process, from idea to print, he will be providing a basic plan for taking your book from your initial thoughts to the completed ready to sell product. The information he will share can be applied to any book regardless of genre and he will include a handout of information the would-be author may find helpful. Russ will also talk about how we produced America’s Road along with some of the mistakes and missteps we made in hope of giving the audience a clearer understanding of the process involved to bring their own book to print. The FCAA meeting begins at 7:30 P.M. and Russ will begin his presentation shortly thereafter. Directions to the meeting location can be found here.
The Blanche Ames Gallery will celebrate Children’s Art Month with its annual show of work by students in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Frederick. Sad to report the reception was held today and we’ve posted this too late... If you would like to see the outstanding work created by these young people call the office at (301) 473-7680 and arrange to stop by the gallery. The exhibit for the month of April 2010, will feature the color photography of Middletown resident Larry Costello. The artist is inspired by moments of beauty in the limited life span of flowers. He captures flowers clinging to life and in their fading beauty, a study in courage and defiant dignity. The public is invited to meet artist Larry Costello at an opening reception on April 4, from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
The Blanche Ames Gallery is a valuable community treasure and has been very supportive of the artists of this region. Please stop by to see the artwork or for one of the monthly exhibit openings and artist receptions to show your support for the wonderful job they do of supporting the arts.

A sure sign of impending Spring, Yard Cat begins to emerge from the deep blanket of snow that had covered him.

First Saturday events held this weekend were quite successful with warm weather and quite a large turnout. The Artists Market benefitted from the increased foot traffic by exposing more people to the events taking place other than on the first Saturday of each month. The next Artists Market will take place on the regular Sunday date. For this month that will be March 28, 2010 from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. The Artists Market is sponsored by the Frederick Arts Council.
